    November 22, 2009

Cabela’s catalogQuad/Graphics begins printing the Cabela’s sporting goods catalog at its Martinsburg, WV plant next month (Quebecor/World Color had the contract before), with annual runs of 40 million copies.

Resurgent interest for board games among next-generation kids, getting face-to-face over printed cards and boards. Two seeing market appeal: Bakugan Battle Brawlers (cards, boards, action figures) for boys and Liebrary (a card-based book puzzler created by actress Darryl Hannah) for general markets.

U.S. Postal Service, suffering financial hardship, and concerned about kid privacy, cancelled delivering kids’ letters sent to “Santa Claus at the North Pole,” and returning gratis (as they have since 1954) responses from volunteers at Santa’s Mailbag in North Pole, AK.  Alaskan Congressional reps spoke to USPS, which okayed delivery to 1 Santa Claus Lane North Pole, AK 99705.
