Digital Services Peer Group
March 10, 2008
Even after 2 decades it never ceases to amaze me when we hit one of these “show times”. These are periods of time in which you could literally go from show to show for weeks at a time. Recently there was Graphic of the Americas (Miami, Fla), Dscoop, (HP digital users conference in San Diego), and On-Demand (Boston, MA). At right on the heels of those shows are The Presidents Conference (Cancun, Mexico), the secret HP announcements (Israel) and the NAPL Top Management Conference (Orlando, Fla).
Just in case there were not enough shows I felt compelled to add my Digital Services Peer Group to the mix. Our inaugural Digital Services Peer group met last week at LVI (formerly LaVigne Inc.).
The goal for the Digital Peer group is to discuss best practices in operational, technical, and strategic issues involved with digital technologies. This also includes challenges associated with the business models, implementation strategies, business development, technology and sales.
I felt privileged to offer this first meeting at my friend Chris Wells shop and get the opportunity to tour his shop. If your not familiar with LVI they are one of the leading digital technology companies with over 100 web to print sites.
Chris talked about their success as the pilot, printing site, for the KODAK EMS Business Software. EMS is business and workflow software that manages everything.
LVI is running its entire operation - front office, back office and production on EMS. It supports 5 salespeople, 4 CSRs, and a group of 4 who share estimating, scheduling and planning responsibilities. Getting to visit LVI was worth the trip alone. Stay tuned – more to come!
