Web to Print Shopping Cart
February 6, 2008

Recently we concluded that W2P complaints focused on the disappointment in sales or profitability associated with the shopping cart feature. I think it is naïve to think that adding a shopping cart feature alone will increase the number of orders you receive from your customers. Its just a another tool and in fact a different tool which may not be embraced by the customers.

Simply creating a shopping cart feature that allows customers to order their work online may not increase the amount of orders your receive, in fact you may find that only a fraction of your clients use it at all. Lets be honest for many customers different = bad.

If you want the shopping cart feature to increase sales or profitability you need to make the benefits outweigh their reluctance or fear of change. What can you do to increase the chances that a shopping cart feature will be embraced?

you must create have a user friendly interface
you need to get there “buy-in”
it must be customized to fit your customer needs

Next time we will discuss the “Field of Dreams” business model.

Mark Many of the web to print solutions do that right out of the box. Often it is just like sending to another printer with a larger page size. Howie

Web to print is a very tough road, from what I have seen, it is all custom coding and you need a team of software developers to pull it off. I like the PrintPlace.com model personally.
