The Morning News
April 17, 2008

I am reading the Wall Street Journal yesterday in the lobby of a client's office. It seems that the hotel industry is pining for summer business and with gas prices being what they are, believe that guests would be much more likely to travel if they had a little incentive. So, they are considering sending out gas cards to help foot the bill.

Page two.

It seems that the real estate market is continuing its race to the bottom of the world. Mortgage rates are down, but buyers are sitting on their hands.

Page three.

The shining stars in the consumer market continue to be the Green Movement and personal care. If it is good for the Earth or the abs, people are racing towards it.

Interesting article.

Amazing opportunities for the visionary printer.

Do you see them?

How would you help a hotel put people in beds if the manager called you? Could a real estate office count on you for help in emptying their cache of inventory? And what of the Tree Huggers? They need some business development as well. You in?

Our industry needs people who see opportunity in their every day lives. If this is you, well done. If you are wondering what facials have to do with printing sales, good luck in your next job.

PS-I am off to Australia for a couple of weeks. Shouldn't have any problem getting some entries in, but in case you don't hear from me before April 29, talk amongst yourselves.

Bill: As a buyer, I receive many print rep cold calls(generally at 3 PM on Friday...why do sales reps call me then?) that boil down to: "I can do all types of printing...got anything I could quote on?" If you are a sales rep who can market yourself differently to me you are a star. Someone who takes the time to learn my business and can give me the elevator speech about my business; give me information to bring back to my people; explain how I can apply tree hugging or personal care (or other topics which people have at top of mind); you are going to be someone with whom I want to meet. The rest as they say is "chemistry!"
