Bring on May!
April 30, 2007

I can’t help but hear an audible “whoosh” when another month blows by me. I believe that time accelerates as you get older. It’s a cruel fact of life. In sales, a new month also means that someone has hit the reset button. Whatever kind of month you had, it is now over and you either get to or have to start over again. Personally, April was both bad and good. It was bad in the sense that I did not cover my set expenses (most notably blowing out my gas budget as Kati learned how to use the SpeedPass and fill up a car on my nickel!). What was good about April was the dedication I showed to new business as a direct result of April’s disappointing numbers. Funny how that happens. I hit the phones hard and May has a chance of being a step up from April. We’ll see. I need to keep the phone work up, especially to my friends who are Yankees fans. With the Sox having taken five of six from the hated Bombers, whose $195,000,000 payroll has them in last place, there is a lot to crow about. Still, I will keep said crowing to a minimum, knowing that the door swings both ways.

Great read in the Wall Street Journal today. Check out the last
section (Small Business Journal Report). It talks about a range of subjects, including web marketing and franchise failures. If you are not reading the Journal every day, put a crowbar in your wallet and pull out the $99 you’ll need for a year’s subscription. Every edition has a pearl.

Off to pack and continue the moves. I was out shopping for my new place last night. If you want to see America’s underbelly, go to WalMart on a Sunday night. Yikes!
