Why I work alone
March 3, 2008

How many corporate executives does it take to make a decision? I’ve got two super proposals with two huge printing companies (vendors, franchises, etc.) and neither is moving fast enough for my liking. Grrrrrrr….

Question: How do you sell digital printing, Bill?
Answer: You hire me to work with your customers. I am ready to go with a solution that will teach a proven process. I have testimonials up the wazoo that prove that I know what I am doing. Let’s go!!!

Naturally, they are studying the situation. Next, there will hire someone to run the training program. He/She will study the situation further and arrive at a solution after spending countless hundreds of thousands of dollars and taking nine months to do it. Meanwhile, nine months’ worth of client issues have arisen, they are still not selling digital printing and the problem remains.

Question: How do we give our owner’s help with growing their sales?
Answer: You hire me to work with your owners. I am ready to go with a solution that will teach a proven process. I have testimonials up the ying yang that prove I know what I am doing. Let’s go!

Naturally, the person I was working with quit. Now, they will seek out someone new and after two or three months, they will hire someone who then needs to study the problem and arrive at their own version of the plan that was already in place when the person they are replacing left. Meanwhile, six months have passed and their owners are no better off.

Once again, this is why I work alone. Make a decision! Move! Tweak! Move!
