Why are our counts off?
June 12, 2008

InfoPrint Solutions Company®

Question:
When counting sheets for making notepads, why are our counts off? Our customer is complaining ...

Answer: I reviewed the printed samples, and your counts do vary slightly for pads of 20. Stabbing for such small counts does not work well and will be off by several sheets when you are working fast.

Tab Inserter

If this bothers the client, then purchase a tab inserting device to install at the delivery of the press. Then insert the chipboard by hand—and the counts will be on.

Why not simply scale count the sheets?

There are many ways to count. It depends on the accuracy that you wish. A good example is in the world of plastics. Each plastic lenticular sheet for a display may sell for $18.00 each. When running a large quanity being off by 20 can start to get expensive. Weigh counting is good for many products if you have a good system and you are not weighing waste.
