Where can I turn for decal info?
September 18, 2007
Question: I've been pondering a niche sideline for my small offset shop: custom short and medium run decals (the water-slide type). My problem has been finding just how decals are produced and how much capital outlay it would take, or if I may already have much of the needed equipment already in-house. When I 'Google' decals I find retail outlets for finished product but never am I able to pinpoint the wholesale suppliers for materials and equipment.

Answered by Carl Sartori, director of sales, AF Lewis Information Services: The Graphic Arts Blue Book is a reference directory for the Printing and Allied Trades. Our list service, AF Lewis Information Services, tracks demographic information pertaining to the printing industry, which is provided to manufacturers, dealers, etc. who are looking to reach this market segment.
AF Lewis can provide contact information on the service provider (in this case, label printers both commercial and trade), material suppliers (paper, ink, etc.) and machinery dealers for the presses and other equipment needed to print labels (both new and used equipment dealers).
