No, these men and women are reading serious literature, poetry, and history tomes centuries old, to gleen wisdom, direction and inspiration for our turbulent times. And from these works the gain competitive advantages.
Silicon Valley’s Book Geeks
Reporter Harriet Rubin suggests in the New York Times that Steven Jobs may have found his inspiration for Pixar and the iPhone in his passion for the books of 18th-century mystic, artist and author William Blake. Google and YouTube investor Michael Moritz, tells Rubin, “As soon as a book enters our home it is guaranteed a permanent place in our lives.”
Power collectors
Some are collectors, of course. Others are looking to find their way in a complicated world. Shelly Lazarus, chairwoman of Ogilvy & Mather is expanding her house to hold her books. “Once I’ve read a book it becomes part of me,” she says.
Not who moved my cheese
