Schtickers turn laptops to typewriters
July 11, 2007

People want to personalize music players and laptops. Stickers and skins from various sources are helping.

Is that my iPod or yours?
Schtickers.com, a Seattle design firm, offers such stickers and skins. Part of Retrofitted Designs, the company says it strives to create high-design low-cost high-quality products that allow customers to look at their “things” differently.

Current products include LapSchtickers and PodSchtickers, which allow users to customize and stylize laptops and iPods.

Converting to an Underwood
Formed at the Bauhaus coffee house in Seattle’s Capital Hill in the summer of 2004, Retrofitted Designs is the brainchild of Leslie Pierson and Angelo Zambito. Designer Mary Robinette took the Schtickers and added her own customization, to convert the keyboard into that of a manual typewriter. She tells how at her site.
