National Postal Forum, May 18-21
May 20, 2008
Sustainability and automated productivity are on the docket as nearly 7,000 printers and mailers gather for the National Postal Forum (NPF), ending tomorrow at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. Postmaster General John Potter addressed the topic of the U.S. Postal Service’s Intelligent Mail Barcode (IMB) and its new
Flats Sequencing System (FSS) in a keynote address on May 19. “Despite the challenging economy, one thing that hasn’t changed is America’s confidence in the mail,” Potter said. (Click here for the
full news release.)
The annual mailing industry trade show, with more than 140 educational workshops, is devoting full-day symposia to the
“greening of mail” and FSS technology, which will speed the sorting and delivery of large envelopes, catalogs and magazine – quadrupling productivity, according to the USPS. Sessions on the IMB drew large audiences, and a Periodicals Track is covering co-mailing and co-palletization issues. Vendors Böwe Bell & Howell, Buskro, Duplo, HP, Kern, Kirk-Rudy, Kodak, MCS Inc., MeadWestvaco, Pitney Bowes and Videojet are among nearly 200 exhibitors. The Mailing and Fulfillment Service Assn. (MFSA) is part of a Mailing Industry Resource Pavilion.
NPF returns to Washington, D.C., next year: May 17-20, 2009.
