Printers Catching Up to ‘Crazy’ Designers
July 27, 2007
A former graphic designer turned stay-at-home mom, who still reads GAM, offers her perspectives on how far the ink-to-paper industry has come in the past five years:
“Mark Vruno’s July article on ‘Delivering Ink Mixes’ is nicely done. Being on the other end (beginning) of production, it’s hard to believe that technology has taken this long to do this more effectively. I guess we designers (’crazy people’) have always had too many choices and could do almost anything on our end!
“But printers never could when it came to color—something always had to be changed. Do you know how many times I heard, ‘You can’t do this!’ ? Oh, yes I can, and you will figure it out! And see, they have!
“It’s nice to see that the ink and printing technology is starting to catch up to what what we’ve been trying to do for years!!! (Printers hate us snobby designers, but they can’t live without us!)”
