Sprockets Web Collaboration Goes Live

Staff -- graphic arts online, 4/1/2001

Boston-based Sprockets, an application service provider to marketing, advertising, entertainment, and creative professionals, announced the release of its Web Collaboration Platform and core applications after a year of development and testing.

Sprockets is designed to provide group collaboration across multiple firms involved in print, video, Web, and multimedia projects. It allows users to stay on top of several projects at once, including those that may involve participants across several companies sharing large digital content files.

"What makes the Sprockets model so compelling is that it has approached the issue of collaborative workflow from a customer's perspective," notes Bill Davison, an industry consultant for Point Balance, Inc., Irving, Calif. "Sprockets can aggregate a multitude of creative tools from project management to file sharing or even stock photography searching, and present them back to the consumer in a system that's easy to use and account for. The conceptual and creative processes are not only enhanced, but business management has a better handle on the true costs and financial implications of decisions."

Sprockets collaboration tools include calendar and scheduling tools, discussion threads, and distribution wizards to manage file delivery, estimating and procurement, and press kit distribution.
