printChannel Offers Dot-Com Conversion Program

Staff -- graphic arts online, 4/1/2001

printChannel.com, San Francisco, an e-procurement solution aimed at printers, has launched a competitive conversion program for current and former customers of e-commerce vendors that have changed business models or ceased operations.

The program encompasses a comprehensive conversion package for current Collabria and MediaFlex licensees. printChannel will help print suppliers set up their first customer sites to speed the transformation from existing systems, enabling suppliers to switch over their customer bases without any customer service interruption.

"A growing number of print suppliers has been blindsided by sudden changes in business models, license fee hikes, or e-commerce vendors ceasing operations altogether," states printChannel.com chief executive Oliver Pflug. "These print suppliers made a strategic commitment to provide e-commerce solutions to their customers. We are looking to offer them a complete package that will allow them to keep that commitment."

The conversion program will include a 25% discount on printChannel.com's standard system set-up fee, five days of classroom training, and a standard block of 25 support hours to help customers convert sites from qualified vendors to the printChannel solution.

"A key difference between printChannel and other solutions is that we enable print suppliers to maintain their own sites, set up their own products, and control their own implementations," adds Pflug. "This level of control is unprecedented in any of the offerings these print suppliers are currently using. When a customer calls with a requested change, any trained person at the print supplier can make the change, rather than having to call us."
