Microtek has introduced its ArtixScan 4500t high-resolution, multiformat color film scanner, available for both Macintosh and Windows platforms. The scanner features 42-bit color depth and Kodak's 10,000-element CCD. With a maximum optical resolution of 2,571 dpi and a 3.9 Dmax, the scanner is said to produce tabloid-sized output from 35-mm slides, medium formats, or 4 x 5 film with no image distortions such as Newton's rings. The scanner includes glass-less holders for virtually every size film format.
