Canopy LLC, the Seattle-based joint venture between PrimeSource and Xeikon, announced that it has begun a formal initiative to create product solutions for substrates and postpress applications for on-demand digital press clients.
Canopy has appointed Bill Ehrlich product manager of digital media and finishing to implement those goals. Ehrlich previously served as a PrimeSource market development manager selling Xeikon digital color presses in the upper Midwest region of the U.S. Additionally, over the course of 15 years, he has held various sales and marketing positions for the printing and publishing systems division of 3M.
"The challenge and re-warding part of my job is finding diverse solutions for a wide variety of user applications," says Ehrlich. "For example, we found a couple of sources of polyester that allowed our customers to print clear, colorful overhead slides. We also found static-cling [material] that prints well with Xeikon presses. Forming alliances with partners at one level and solving very specific problems at the other make this role very gratifying."
