-- graphic arts online, 3/1/2001
During Mail-Well's meteoric rise, Gerald F. Mahoney says he encouraged managers to keep in mind the following strategies:
- Build critical mass through aggressive acquisition.
- Buy high-quality companies with an excellent management time, customer base, and reputation, and never buy purely for earnings.
- Diversify the product offering and differentiate the service offering.
- Improve the efficiency and operations of acquired firms.
- Leverage size by developing and continuously improving business systems that standardize processes, excise costs, and provide for consistent product and service delivery.
- Delight customers.
