Holiday Habits Push Greeting Card Printing

-- Graphic Arts Online, 11/20/2008 10:39:00 PM

(Press Release)--Nov. 2008: More than 90 percent of Americans celebrate Thanksgiving, spending the day with family and friends and enjoying the traditions of this uniquely American holiday. The Greeting Card Association estimates that approximately 25 million Thanksgiving greeting cards will be exchanged this year, with the vast majority being purchased for relatives and close friends who will be celebrating the holiday in another city or state. Overall, approximately 80 percent of all Thanksgiving Day cards are mailed.
Although the typical Thanksgiving card is traditional in design and tone, humorous cards poking fun at the plight of the turkey, the turkey dinner or family dynamics are also popular.
In recent years, Thanksgiving cards have also become popular with businesses, who view the holiday as a natural opportunity to express their appreciation to customers and clients.
Thanksgiving is always celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. In 2008, Thanksgiving will fall on Nov. 27. www.greetingcard.org
