Printer DG3 Powers Up with 100%  Renewable Energy

-- Graphic Arts Online, 11/12/2008 6:24:00 AM

(Press Release) Woodbridge, NJ– Hess Energy announced today that DG3 North America (DG3), a leading provider of worldwide print and communications solutions, will purchase 4,320 renewable energy certificates (REC’s) over the next seven months from Hess Corporation to help support the development of renewable energy in the United States.
A REC represents the property rights to the environmental benefits derived from electricity generated by renewable sources such as wind, solar, biomass and wave motion.
"When a company buys a REC from Hess it is investing in the future development of renewable energy sources and making a commitment to support greener sources of power,” said Gene Kutcher, Hess Energy Marketing vice president of sales.
Through its REC program, Hess’ Energy Marketing group enables customers to support renewable energy by investing in renewable energy projects certified by Green-e™, a program run by the Center for Resource Solutions.
“By working with Hess to support the production of renewable energy, DG3 North America, Inc., is helping to drive the global company’s overall initiative to make a real, positive impact on the environment. We selected Hess Energy to provide both our electricity and the RECs, in order to ensure our energy purchases are made as green as possible,” said Joe Lindfeldt, executive vice president of corporate development for DG3. “Our decision to purchase Hess RECs is consistent with our company-wide environmental effort, which include a 100 percent closed-loop printing process, and is quickly positioning our company to become one of America’s ‘greenest’ printers.”
DG3 North America, a certified Forest Stewardship Council printer, added its recent purchase of Hess RECs to a list of local and global “green” efforts to protect and enhance the environment, including:
--Biodegradable and green label chemicals;
--Oxidized air systems, releasing only 99 percent clean air back into the environment;
--Soy-based ink;
--Recycled materials and paper;
--A 100 percent closed-loop printing process; and,
--Curtailed energy efficiency programs.

Hess Energy Marketing began selling RECs earlier this year. The products are part of Hess’ green suite of energy offerings including Demand Response and C-Neutral. Hess has made a commitment to provide its customers with a broad range of clean energy solutions to help them meet their environmental and business needs.
