DENVER, COLORADO (Press Release) November 6, 2008 --Harding Consulting Alliance(HCA)recently completed a consolidation study for The Tacoma News Tribune and The Olympian, both McClatchy-owned properties. The study explored the feasibility of printing both papers at the Tacoma facility, while continuing to print USA Today at the Olympic facility.HCA evaluated historical product data from both papers (paging, sections and color) as well as production schedules and packaging and field data. The comprehensive data set enabled the consulting team to model several possible production plans and schedules, each with varying changes to print and delivery. After analysis and modeling, HCA developed a final recommendation that outlined overall benefits and risks as well as an implementation plan.
The recommended approach was approved; McClatchy plans to transfer printing of The Olympian to The News-Tribune in Tacoma, Washington in November 2008. HCA is an established newspaper and print media consulting firm specializing in strategic planning, business and process optimization, consolidation/outsource analysis, equipment/facility planning and implementation consulting services. www.hardingca.com
