USPS Permit-Only Regs for Bound Printed Matter

-- Graphic Arts Online, 9/12/2008 9:34:00 AM

Cambridge, MA, (Press Release)—Effective September 11, 2008, the Postal Service will require all mailings of Bound Printed Matter to be paid using permit only regardless of volume or whether they are presorted or nonpresorted. See Federal Register Notice for more information. This means mailers will not be able to use stamps, postage meters, or PC Postage. They will have to apply for a permit at their designated post office where they will be dropping off their mailings.
Window Book’s shipping software, Postal Package Partner, offers a perfect solution for mailers handling Bound Printed Matter (BPM). Postal Package Partner is a complete USPS shipping system that uses permit and provides manifesting, automated email notification, Delivery Confirmation, shipping reports, and permit balances. In addition to Bound Printed Matter, Postal Package Partner also supports First-Class Mail, Priority Mail, Express Mail, Parcel Post, Media Mail, Library Mail and optional International manifesting.
“Once mailers obtain a permit at their local post office, they will discover how easy and convenient it is to use a permit for mailings instead of having to affix stamps. Postal Package Partner will print shipping labels with the permit and also let you keep track of the permit balance as well,” said Jeffery Peoples, CEO of Window Book.
