GFI Innovations and Fujifilm team up for Mx6 Open House Events

-- Graphic Arts Online, 8/28/2008 8:03:00 AM

(Press Release) Gurnee, IL – August 26, 2008 — Twenty of GFI Innovations’ new Mx6™ Series Ink Formulation Dispensers are now at various print operations across the country, the result of successful Open House demonstrations hosted by FUJIFILM Graphic Systems USA Inc. in partnership with GFI.

The four-month, 26-city blitz included live equipment demonstrations for printers in every major U.S. print market, starting in Seattle and ending this summer in Denver. Most events were two-day demonstration-only open houses while others included technical seminars that were presented by Fujifilm and many of its vendors. Topics included fountain solution maintenance, fighting calcium on presses, blanket installation and maintenance, environmental products, ink-related issues and other concerns facing today’s printers. Most of the events were held at Fujifilm facilities with some shows attracting more than 50 attendees.

According to Ted Schaffer, business manager – Pressroom and Flexography for FUJIFILM Graphic Systems USA Inc., the four Mx6 units were scheduled to allow printers to see the devices in action and see how they are able to work in their shops.

“The shows were a great success and a number of printers and shop owners were able to see the devices running live,” Schaffer said. “They were also able to see how positively they could impact their operations and experience how simple they were to operate. Many of the attendees were making ink after a brief demonstration. It’s just that easy.”

Time and cost-saving Mx6 features offer rapid ROI

The Mx6 Ink Formulation Dispenser demonstrations offered printers a firsthand look at how spot-color dispensing can be done with ease, speed and accuracy. The patented dispensing process, ink control system, quick-change AccureX™ Precision Dispense Cylinders, and innovative EvolvePro™ software, combine to save prep time. The Mx6 also improves color consistency, eliminates ink mixing clean-up time, reduces lost press time waiting for ink, improves scheduling fidelity and helps reduce substrate waste. Printers also learned how easy it is to work off unused ink and reduce inventory, and how to save up to 40 percent by making spot color ink in-house instead of buying it directly from their local supplier.

“With the Mx6, a printer can eliminate wasted ink, a lot of press downtime and waste ink disposal fees,” Schaffer said. “The ROI on these devices is also extremely fast. Some of our customers have been able to justify them in a few months and after they are paid for, they become a substantial profit center. I can’t think of a printer in America who couldn’t benefit from this technology, especially in this economic climate.”

“We’re very pleased with the success of this series,” said GFI’s John Borkovec, director of Sales and Marketing. “Our Fujifilm partners did a great job of arranging and hosting each program, and we received some very good feedback. Looking ahead, we will have the Mx6 in our booth at Graph Expo this fall (October 26-29 at Chicago’s McCormick Place), as will our Fujifilm partners.” GFI Innovations leads the industry in Ink Formulation Dispensing, including its patented Mx Series technologies. The company offers a range of dispensing systems and accessories for liquid inks, along with advanced software for ink formulation and inventory management. www.gfiinnovations.com
