Peak UV P3 third-generation system met the global market at drupa. “Our goal is to increase the ease and availability of UV production—and at the same time reduce energy costs and carbon emissions for printers,” notes CEO Steve Metcalf. The patent-pending system is designed to make UV printing easier. Engineering achievements increasing its durability and performance include multi-axial “MAX” motion to maximize thermal durability of moving components, “self-healing” shutters that self-align to reflectors in the face of ongoing physical stress in the press, and “inline anodes” that protect against water corrosion of internal components. airmotionsystems.com

Jeti NanoJet UV grand-format digital printer is described as a “true flatbed” print by manufacturer Gandinnovations. It employs 24 of the latest silicon nozzle Spectra high-performance inkjet print heads. Each 15-picoliter head is engineered to deliver high-resolution droplets. Printing at speeds of 220 sq.ft./hr., the NanoJet has a print area of 4×8´´ and prints in six colors at 800 dpi, using the firm's UV-curable branded inks. A vacuum table holds rigid materials up to 2´´ thick firmly in place. The specially designed table uses a linear motion system to control movement, improving register and resolution accuracy. It's geared for display printing on glass, acrylics, dibond, aluminum, wood, steel, coroplast, formboard and styrene. The printer is making its debut at drupa this month. Gandinnovations product line also includes the Jeti 3324, a 24 Spectra print head, roll-to-roll solvent printer with several technological upgrades, including an automated head-wiping system that keeps ink flowing. The model is available in dye-sublimation versions. gandinnovations.com
Dynagram's inpO2 v.3.0, introduced at drupa, is imposition software for Adobe Acrobat. The software adds new modules for ganging optimization and imposition planning via automatic layout calculation. The latest version also introduces Check Points, a built-in monitoring system designed to alert users to potential problems with their imposition layouts. In addition, the company showcased its DynaStrip imposition software version 5.2 working within a JDF workflow with MIS and RIP partners in drupa's CIP4 JDF Pavilion. Demonstrations highlighted how JDF files produced by the MIS systems are processed and imposed in DynaStrip 5.2, then how JDF imposition data is passed on to the RIP for processing. www.dynagram.com
Unifoil highlights its eco-friendly nonlaminated UniLustre substrates for packaging and printing applications in a product reference guide (shown). The foil- and film-free nonlaminated papers boards, and plastics are recyclable and offer a reduced carbon footprint, the company says. The guide is printed on recyclable UniLustre multidimensional, metallized board. Unifoil says using nonlaminated UniLustre materials for packaging and printing applications results in both waste and source reduction because no film or foil is incorporated into the finished product, enabling recycling and lowering shipping costs. unifoil.com
