In the first six months since opening a 110,000-sq.ft. training center in Eppelheim, Germany, Heidelberg reports over 8,000 customers and staff have attended 800 courses in print and workflow.
Called the Educ@te Center, it houses the largest collection of Heidelberg presses for training purposes anywhere in the world, says the company. The 24-room center houses 20 presses, ranging from a simple press for printing letterheads to a 10-color press that can run high-finish perfume packaging or artwork, to new presses that will be unveiled at drupa. The facility is part of Heidelberg's Print Media Academy, whose 17 locations span 14 countries. It is staffed by 140 certified trainers. Each year, around 17,000 technical and management staff from the printing and media industry take part in courses offered by the worldwide Print Media Academy training network.
“The encouraging response from customers and staff to our wide-ranging training program at the Educ@te Center underlines the demand for professional basic and advanced training courses in the print media industry,” says Bernd Schopp, head of Print Media Academy.
The Print Media Academy global network includes academies in Atlanta; Toronto; Sydney; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Sao Paulo, Brazil; Cairo; Shenzhen, Republic of China; and Moscow.
PMA's education offering includes not only one-off seminars but international management programs, advanced training, special congresses and more. Training course are five to 10 days, and around 20 courses are held simultaneously each week. www.heidelberg.com
