Commercial printer Art & Negative Graphics, Lanham, MD, expanded its mailing/fulfillment operation, adding 26,000 sq.ft., bringing the firm’s total plant to 55,800 sq.ft. It also has added a custom-built Pitney Bowes Flowmaster inserter with 18 stations, four-way matching, inline direct addressing and tabbing.
The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is proposing that mailers of publications and other flats like catalogs to print addresses facing up (in most cases this requires inkjet addressing printed upside down relative to the cover). The revised standards will help to validate bundle contents and expedite manual bundle distribution, the USPS says—and also align preparation with the automated induction capabilities of the Flats Sequencing System. Printers who mail have until April 3 to comment.
