The Ticker

-- Graphic Arts Online, 3/4/2008 8:19:00 PM

Today’s Ticker: Allied Printing Services, bluemedia, Art & Negative Graphics, U.S. Postal Service, Curtis Packaging, Mohawk and today’s quote.

Allied Printing Services, Manchester, CT, installed a QuadTech Register Guidance System with MultiCam. For more

bluemedia, Tempe, AZ, a provider of vehicle, large-format and environmental graphic applications, installed an HP Scitex TJ8300 large-format industrial printer. The Phoenix Suns named the company as their Preferred Signage Provider for the 2007-2008 basketball season. For more

Commercial printer Art & Negative Graphics, Lanham, MD, expanded its mailing/fulfillment operation, adding 26,000 sq.ft., bringing the firm’s total plant to 55,800 sq.ft. It also has added a custom-built Pitney Bowes Flowmaster inserter with 18 stations, four-way matching, inline direct addressing and tabbing.

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is proposing that mailers of publications and other flats like catalogs to print addresses facing up (in most cases this requires inkjet addressing printed upside down relative to the cover). The revised standards will help to validate bundle contents and expedite manual bundle distribution, the USPS says—and also align preparation with the automated induction capabilities of the Flats Sequencing System. Printers who mail have until April 3 to comment.

Curtis Packaging Corp., Sandy Hook, CT, named Kerry Brown director of quality. For more

Mohawk Fine Papers appointed Ted O’Connor director of pricing process. For more
