Gans Case-Hard process ink series is said to be formulated for an extremely hard, rub-resistant finish, with the fastest set speed of any high-rub ink the firm has produced. Geared for higher risk paper finishes such as matte, vellum, cast-coat, tag and index, it is aimed at printers who have struggled with keeping full-color images scratch-free and unburnished through bindery and other postpress stages. www.gansink.com

Helpful Hintsfrom Rickard Bindery, now in its sixth edition, is aimed as a guidebook for printers in planning jobs and preparing project quotes. It details Rickard's offerings, as well as time- and money-saving solutions for postpress work. www.rickardbindery.com

Xerox Profit Accelerators are turnkey guides and tool sets that help printers quickly build revenue-generating business. Digital Print Shop in a Box, free to customers, is an interactive CD and Web-based collection with sales guides, business resources, application software (FreeFlow, XMPie, NowPrint ASAP, PIA/GATF industry guides) and associated services. Xerox also offers the Picture Me ProfitableKit to help digital print providers design, market and produce photo specialty products. www.xerox.com

AutoStat Web Cleaners remove dust and dirt from low-tension, continuous-feed webs entering digital printers from Kodak, HP, Xerox, Canon, Océ, InfoPrint, Nipson, Böwe Bell + Howell and others. A patented grooved faceplate design allows the AutoStat-D cleaners to be placed extremely close to thin or low-tension webs without risking drawing the web into the vacuum slot. Faceplates with static control equipment, air jets, and torsion bar hinges are integrated into a slightly wider vacuum hood design, which allows increased cleaning dwell time. Dust and dirt are captured in an enclosed filter box. The system supplies its own compressed air. www.electrostatics.com

Lift Truck Toyota's 7-Series electric walkie straddle stacker lift truck (voted “most popular” by Modern Materials Handling readers) has adjustable base legs to navigate aisles of different widths. In 2,000- and 2,500-lb. capacity models, the 24-volt truck features regenerative braking. Its spring-loaded control handle automatically applies the parking brake when the handle is released. Toyota says it is the only manufacturer to offer UL-listed, EPA- and CARB-certified compressed natural gas powered lift trucks. Its 8-Series internal combustion engine truck meets California's 2010 emission standards, producing 70% less emissions than the 2007 Federal standard. For every 8-Series truck delivered in 2007, Toyota made a donation to The National Arbor Day Foundation to plant a tree in a national forest. The company also has debuted a prototype fuel-cell truck. www.toyotaforklift.com

Concept21 from RBP Chemical Technology has been granted U.S. Patent 7,114,443 for its novel method of delivering fountain solution to a printing press. The patent covers the mixing and delivery of fluid concentrates with water, using a proportioning pump to meter the component concentrates. The technology forms the basis of the RBP Concept 21 Fountain Solution System. Adapted from the pharmaceutical industry, the proportioning pump (shown) mixes multiple formulas with less than 1% variation. Using house water, it can blend chemistry tailored to the specific press requirements for a given job. For printers, this means more precise control over ink-water balance—and printing cleaner, more consistent color, job after job. www.rbpchemical.com

VUTEk QS3200 wide-format printers feature a hybrid concept of high-quality, high-speed UV printing that enables plotting on both rigid and flexible substrates, producing images up to 10.5´ wide at 1080 dpi with High Definition Print technology—and at speeds up to 83 sq.m. per hour. The series also features white ink capability. Last month, EFI announced an Enhanced Service Program designed to customize support for its VUTEk product line. The three-tiered program includes Critical (service response time within eight business hours), Proactive (within 16 business hours) and Essential (a service technician arrives within 24 business hours), as well as parts, labor, travel and preventative maintenance. www.efi.com

Jogger aerator offerings from Woodward have been expanded to include two big “no-pit” versions capable of larger load capacities for bigger press sheets. The original 28×40´´ FL2840 has been joined by a 38×42´´ version, with a 3,500-lb. capacity, and a 46×58´´ model handling 4,500-lb. loads. Aerators jog, align, aerate and turn over sheets of paper, paperboard, corrugated or slip sheets in minutes. Damaged sheets or skids can be removed from the loads, and hand repiling is eliminated. www.joggeraerator.com

ODM Separator safely cuts die windows in finished books. Using an easy-to-install die plate and adjustable cover guide, the operator places the finished cover into the mail slot of the Separator, then depresses a foot pedal that cuts a window in the outside cover. A quick die changeover system with minimal makeready makes the device suitable for hardcover photo books. It can produce 200 to 400 diecut windows per hour. www.odmachinery.com

EFI Fiery XF delivers high-speed processing, color quality and increased productivity, as well as seamless connectivity to a broad product portfolio, says EFI. “Many service providers drive their large-format printers with Windows-based PCs,” says Stefan Spiegel, GM, graphic arts solutions, EFI. “This limits their ability to take full advantage of the capabilities of their large-format output devices.” The Fiery XF accesses EFI server technology to deliver better output from printing devices from a variety of manufacturers, including Epson, HP, Mimaki, Mutoh, Roland and EFI's own VUTEk. www.efi.com

FastBind tabletop perfect binders (the Casematic is shown) use a unique, hot-melt binding process suitable for finishing digitally printed documents, presentations, paperbacks and on-demand hardcover books quickly. Applications include archiving, yearbooks, library repair, periodical binding and commercial books. www.amerilam.us
