Fuji to Join PrintCity at drupa
By Mark Vruno -- Graphic Arts Online, 12/1/2007

The PrintCity alliance, with its wide range of growing news and activities across the printing, packaging and publishing sectors, will again be a major attraction at drupa, May 29- June 11, 2008. Hall 6 is devoted to this consortium of suppliers which demonstrates how systems can be linked in the real world. PrintCity will celebrate its 10th anniversary and its third joint drupa fair. There will be more than 30 PrintCity participants at drupa, including MAN Roland, Shinohara, Océ, Megtec, Sappi, UPM and, now on the prepress side, Fujifilm.
Fuji announced last month that it is partnering with the PrintCity alliance at drupa in a project to present the latest developments in workflow techniques and solutions. Fuji will join the PrintCity Workflow Integration & Networking Competence Centre and also have its own 6,000-sq.ft. exhibition stand in Hall 8b. By partnering with PrintCity, Fuji aims to achieve a wider exposure for its new XMF prepress workflow technology, which allows seamless integration by JDF across different suppliers' products.
Focusing its drupa presence on “Connection of Competence,” PrintCity members plan a new concept approach to attract and inform visitors about the power of print and packaging media. The approach will focus on dedicated Competence Centers, a forum presentation area and easy to use visitor information areas and guidance features.
The objective throughout is to present world leading joint project knowledge & research findings from the PrintCity alliance.
“The PrintCity alliance has delivered many new activities, projects and seminars since drupa 2004,” says PrintCity president Helmut Dangelmaier. “Innovation areas have included new project work on brand protection and food packaging, the value- added printing of newspapers plus numerous other projects. These, together with work involving RFID technology and digital printing, have attracted growing interest in PrintCity and its members worldwide.
“For drupa 2008, we have many new projects and features for printers, packaging converters and publishers alike,” he adds. “Many of these projects are totally new and will not be fully announced until early 2008. We also have new ideas to attract brand owners and print buyers, so that they can see why Print-City is recognized as the 'window to the future' in our industry.” www.printcity.de
Innovation ParcOcé is the official print partner of the drupa innovation parc (DIP), providing professional support to the think tank. In the DIP section presented by HP, exhibition visitors will see an overview of the latest developments in diverse sectors of the print trade. Publishing houses, agencies and users will discover upcoming trends and learn how to tap into new opportunities.
DIP will be a magnet for attracting new target groups, such as customers in the print media trade and corporate publishers. The innovations presented for the first time at drupa by these newcomer exhibitors could well become industry standards in the future. Read more about DIP next month.
