FRONTLINE: Security Printing Options Expanding
By Lisa Cross -- Graphic Arts Online, 11/1/2007
Concerns about counterfeiting and fraud have lead to product developments that enhance the security of printed works. Xerox introduced a new security technology (shown) that prints variable text on digital devices with ordinary toner, readable only when exposed to infrared light. Applications include authentication of tickets, coupons, certificates, licenses, and high-value documents.
HP Indigo offers invisible ink that is only readable under a UV lamp, as a security option on its digital presses. It also supports digital watermarks and micro-text. Another security introduction is :Secuseal, an Adobe Illustrator plug-in from Agfa, that adds security features to print designs.
