MetroGroup Closes Plant

MetroGroup, Lincoln, NB, will close its 175,000-sq.ft. printing and mailing facility in Rutland, VT, in December, eliminating 240 jobs. The operation was Rutland County’s eighth largest employer, reports the Rutland Herald.

The company is owned by private equity firm Sterling Capital Group. MetroGroup, formerly know as MetroMail Corp., was once a part of RR Donnelley, which acquired it in the late 1980s, then spun it off. In 2003, MetroGroup acquired the operating assest of Experian’s lettershop printing and packaging operations.
