FRONTLINE: Trademark Design

Printing and packaging manufacturer Disc Graphics, Hauppauge, NY, reports the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office approved its request to trademark its Omni-Pac DVD and CD packaging. Printed on coated two-sided stock, Omni-Pac uses approximately one-third less board than traditional media packaging. The process allows for artwork on both sides of the case without the need for fold-over and gluing.
A producer of folding cartons, labels, displays, mini-flute packaging and more for the pharmaceutical, vitamin, health and beauty, multimedia and other consumer markets, Disc Graphics produces folding cartons, commercial printing, and flexographic labels under ISO and CGMP standards.
The company also embraces “green” printing practices and titles its environmental mission statement, “Moving Eco-Consciousness into Action.” The firm's position on the environment, say its officials, reflects Disc's commitment to offer customers renewable, recyclable, sustainable, ecologically supportive packaging options.
To that end, the company powers operations through renewable energy sources. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently recognized Disc as a Green Power Partner for its purchase of more than 575,000 kilowatt hours of green power. The company is also FSC chain-of-custody certified, offers customer seminars on eco-friendly practices, and recommends package designs that minimize waste and uses vegetable-based inks.
Disc Graphics operates in New York, New Jersey and California. www.discgraphics.com
