PRESS RELEASE: CGS Digital Proofing Helps Leading Agency Cut Costs and Increase Productivity by 50%

-- graphic arts online, 9/10/2007 3:00:00 PM

September 10, 2007 – CGS Publishing Technologies announced that its customer, XYZ, a San Francisco-based digital photography, photo retouching & prepress production studio, has reported a productivity increase of 50 percent and significant cost savings as a result of installing CGS’ ORIS digital-proofing solution, including the ORIS Color Tuner and ORIS Certified Proof. With 65 percent of XYZ’s proofs coming from the ORIS solution, XYZ has credited its use of digital proofing as a key contributor to its triple-digit company growth.
“ORIS has cut our proofing time in half,” said Jay Poling, color imaging quality assurance coordinator for XYZ. “The increased productivity we’ve achieved with ORIS lets us reduce the price we charge our clients, but still maintain our profits. ORIS has given a great value to XYZ and its customers.”
ORIS Color Tuner is a complete proofing system, combining automation, color management, high-speed output and proofing-specific ink and paper. With ORIS, XYZ can create contract-quality proofs for clients on affordable inkjet devices because of ORIS’ automatic color matching, automatic printer calibration and selective color correction to adjust for inherent inkjet variations.
ORIS Certified Proof provides the ideal platform for all XYZ color output, from contract proofs to on-screen “virtual” proofs to final press output. Using simple, handheld spectral measuring devices, this software provides tracked results for every proof XYZ produces. This system significantly reduces errors by quickly detecting potential equipment failures, color drift, incorrect paper usage and improper profiles. Increased reliability of both systems and personnel comes through ongoing tracking of specific equipment and operators.
“We’ve had a long-standing relationship with XYZ and couldn’t be happier to see it experience such impressive results,” said Trevor Haworth, CGS Publishing Technologies’ president and CEO. “The ORIS solution has the reliability and dependability to handle the day-to-day proofing operations for XYZ, providing more time for the company to focus on how to continue to improve and expand their business.”
According to XYZ, the ORIS Color Tuner and Certified Proof have been key contributors to the company’s 300 percent growth over the past five years. That success has helped drive XYZ toward installing additional state-of-the-art ORIS technologies in both its Boulder, Colo., and Los Angeles, Calif., locations.
