Shutterfly, Hayward, CA, a producer of photo books, greeting cards, DVDs, photo prints and other specialties, will open a second manufacturing facility in Charlotte, NC, in Q3, expected to employ 200. Former Banta operations VP Dwayne Black was named Shutterfly senior VP operations. Reporting to CEO Jeffrey Housenbold, Black will be responsible for strategy and operations of manufacturing, global fulfillment and customer service. Black has more than 20 years of operations and logistics expertise, with experience opening or restructuring 12 manufacturing and distribution facilities for Banta both domestically and internationally.
“Our rapid growth prompted us to seek a true manufacturing entrepreneur with deep industry experience, incubating multiple manufacturing facilities,” says Housenbold, who cited Black's track record in modernizing complex manufacturing and distribution processes using automation and robotics, and ability to foster efficient workforces, as making him “an excellent fit.” www.shutterfly.com
