Printers attending the annual Graphics of the Americas trade show exhibition, Feb. 28-March 4, in Miami, will have the chance to win an on-demand book production system valued at $20,000. The show's On-Demand Product Showcase, formerly named the On-Demand Book Making Factory, will feature all the components necessary to produce variable-data, short-run books. Visitors to the exhibit will see books printed, covers creased and bound and the final book product trimmed; at last year's show over 1,000 books were produced from the exhibit.
Participating equipment vendors include: Smart Papers, Fuji Film, Morgana, ExactBind and Challenge Machinery. At the end of the show, the grand prize winner, randomly selected from attendees that toured the free exhibit, will take home: a Xerox Phaser, donated by Fuji; electric creaser, donated by Morgana; a table-top perfect binder, donated by ExactBind; and an electric guillotine with stand, donated by Challenge. Shipping of the equipment is the responsibility of the winner. Graphic Arts Monthly and AF Lewis/Graphic Arts BlueBooks are the promotional partners of the book equipment giveaway.
The 2007 exhibition will again feature popular exhibit attractions including Adobe's Theatre, Definitely Digital Highway, Design City, Printers' Showcase and Wide Format Hall (shown). New at the show is Substrate Central, an XML/PDF Pavilion and Web-to-Print Pavilion. www.graphicsoftheamericas.com, www.smartpapers.com, www.fujifilmgs.com, www.morganausa.com, www.exactbind.com, www.challengemachinery.com
