Rapid Rendering
Photorealistic 3-D imaging gains speed
By Lisa Cross -- graphic arts online, 9/1/2006
Is it a photo or photorealistic ren-dering? Let's get right down to the nuts and bolts of the matter: It is a photorealistic 3-D image produced on ART VPS's newly launched Render Server, a hardware and software rendering solution for producing high-resolution visualization of three-dimensional data. The company says its use of dual processing promises photorealistic images at faster speeds.
The product is the result of the ART VPS partnership with Mental Images and incorporates technologies from both companies, providing users with a fast, flexible and robust platform.
Designed to cater to growing demand in product marketing, design, architecture and the automotive industry, the product can be used independently or as part of a dedicated render farm.
Render Server is a rendering solution with a built-in, custom GUI front-end that can organize and manage rendering tasks on a network, enabling users to schedule and control simultaneous rendering jobs.
Graphic Arts Monthly's October cover will feature a lenticular image rendered with 3-D software. The cover will be printed on a Komori press and produced using National Graphics' Extreme Vision Lenticular Imaging technology. A detailed production description will be highlighted in next month's “How'd We Print This?” column. www.artvps.com, www.extremevision.com
