Concord Litho, Concord, NH, annual sales of $41 million, took top honors in the Posters & Art Prints category in the New Hampshire Graphic Arts Assn.'s Tyler Awards for its printing of a 38×40´´ poster titled “Mandarin” (shown). Produced for Applejack Partners, the piece featured a striking orange flower and was printed with fade-resistant inks on a 7-color, 64´´ KBA Rapida 162 perfector press with inline aqueous coating. The poster was for a 500-run reprint, and Concord was tasked with matching the original print. KBA closed-loop densitometry system and CIP3 digital interface helped match colors. The company also prints other printing firms' over-sized work.
Earlier this year, Concord received a patent for its CoverSleeve invention, a tabbed magazine cover format that stores a multi-page advertising insert inside. CoverSleeves are produced inline on a web press, which prints the pieces in a single press pass. www.concordlitho.com and www.kba-usa.com
