Abitibi-Consolidated's newest paper product, Innovative Offset, is an environmentally friendly and cost-effective paper, delivering up to 20% savings through a lighter basis weight that provides stiffness and print quality, says the company.
The chlorine-free paper also requires approximately 50% less wood fiber than commodity offset. Produced at the Beaupré and Alma mills in Quebec, the paper delivers a brightness level of 81 and a whiteness of 90, and is surface-treated to assure better ink hold-out and on-press performance.
The company also reports, effective April 1, its Equal Offset and Equal Book grades will deliver a brightness level of 84 and a whiteness of 100, representing the shade and brightness level of the original commodity offset.
