Wam!Net Inc., an Eagan, Minn..-based provider of digital content management services, has announced the availability of a new on-line offering for collaborative workgroups, including advertising agencies and print production professionals who create, manage, share, publish, distribute, and store digital media.
The service, called Wam!Net WorkSpace, was previewed at the Drupa 2000 event last May in Germany, and functions as a virtual service accessible worldwide via www.wamnet.com or Wam!Net's high-speed secure network.
"It allows us to work in a wide-area network as if we're in a local-area network," says John Emms, president of ASI, a Minneapolis-based graphic design firm currently using the service. "We can easily share and exchange files externally with our clients without appearing to leave our local network."
Wam!Net WorkSpace also enables users "to create, share, back up, and access digital files from any desktop worldwide," adds Wam!Net graphic arts marketing director Tim Elliot. "Users now have easy access to asset management and other applications such as data repurposing."
Elliot notes that subscribers also can access a new image-proposing tool that performs basic file conversion functions such as changes in resolution, color space, and file type.
