Collating System
Vijuk Equipment, Inc. is introducing the Setmaster line of collators. The Setmaster's feeding stations load on the run, and are equipped with an adjustable feeding head with multiple suction points and air-blast separation, ensuring accurate sheet transfer, according to the manufacturer. Double- and missing- sheet detectors are fitted as standard.
Capable of being equipped with any number of stations, the collators feature options such as a stitch/fold/trim unit; duplex system; head, corner, or loop stitcher; hole puncher; cross folding unit; ultrasonic welder; shrink wrapper; variable-speed jogger; criss-cross jogger; gluing unit; computerized operation; deep-pile feeding; hand-feed station; crash numbering; and deep pile delivery unit.

Electrical Heat Presses
DigiFab Systems is offering DigiHeat electrical heat presses for heat-transferring dye-sublimation prints to polyester and poly-blend fabrics. Six new heat press models range from 44" to 99" in width, and are ideal for flexible banners, outdoor signage, POP signs, fabric posters, promotional apparel, trade show, booths or office décor, says the manufacturer.
The DigiHeat presses feature three-zone heat control across the width of the machine to ensure consistent heat from left to right as well as down the length of any roll of material that requires heat transferring, thus ensuring greater color accuracy. Creo has launched VI Toolbox, a Windows-based software solution for creating entry-level variable-information (VI) jobs with Microsoft Word, Adobe PageMaker, and other common desktop applications
According to the manufacturer, the VI Toolbox suite supports multiple VI market needs for creating color-rich VI jobs, an unlimited number of records, an efficient full-color digital printing workflow, and the ability to soft-proof personalized documents. Vacuum Cup Replacements

Gatherer and Sewer
Smyth Machinery Inc. USA has introduced the Smyth Unit, designed to combine bindery operations and reduce labor requirements with an automatic in-line gatherer and sewer that can be operated by one person. The device allows users to collate signatures and send then directly into the Smyth sewing machine. The Smyth Unit uses about 50% less floor space than comparable in-line gathering and sewing systems. Automatic in-line gathering and sewing lines can be designed in a multitude of configurations, with up to eight sewers in line.

Proof Certification
PerfectProof has released Version 2.0 of its ProofMaster Folio, Mezzo, and Grande software packages. The new version allows users to certify that proofs are accurate according to an internationally accepted ISO standard. ProofMaster adds a small color control strip to the bottom of the proof, which can be measured with a spectrophotometer; the software then provides a detailed report that compares the colors measured on the proof with those from the press target, applying an ISO standard to determine whether the proof is accurate.
The new version includes tools for editing color profiles, including correction for dot gain, gray, white point, and primary color.

QuarkXPress Training
Staffingtools.com has announced the availability of QuarkXPress 6.0 Fundamentals, a customizable course available through staffingtools.com. Available at any hour, the on-line course teaches users to create projects and build documents while utilizing frames, colors, inks, and text; utilize new menus, palettes, preferences, and layout spaces; manage text and format type; and more. Users log in to the course with a unique ID and password, and can perform a series of steps that assess initial product knowledge and improvement derived from training.
