Document Management

Océ has unveiled its Document Manager, a robust, scalable digital archiving solution that stores and retrieves documents in multiple environments. It is a component of Océ's PrismaArchive and part of the Océ Prisma integrated family of adaptive workflow management software.

Offering high-bandwidth storage and retrieval, Océ Document Manager is flexible and scalable based on customer needs, whether archiving print, scan, native, or any other type of enterprise-wide data. Users can configure archiving capacity based on the type of data being scanned, type of application, number of concurrent users accessing an archive, or amount of data storage capacity. The system also gives users the ability to protect sensitive data using varying levels of access rights.

UV Curable Inks

Vutek Inc. has issued a new generation of Enhanced UV inks, developed and optimized for the PressVu UV family of flatbed printers. Says Vutek, the new inks offer superior color gamut, matching ability, and adhesion to difficult substrates, along with greater consistency from print to print. Available in eight colors, the Enhanced UV inks also provide a greater reduction in "tire tracking," a common problem when printing with UV curable ink.

Also, a new magenta ink called Greater Gamut Magenta allows PressVu UV printers to match even more Pantone colors and print nearly 20% faster in eight-color mode, say company officials.

Entry-Level Scanner

Fujifilm has introduced FineScan 2750XL, an entry-level color scanner for prepress departments, designers, advertising agencies, photo labs, and studios. The unit allows up to 100 35-mm slides to be automatically scanned and cropped in one operation, at a resolution that allows large-format reproduction.

The device scans at speeds of up to 75 35-mm scans per hour, and 50 6´7" scans per hour. The FineScan 2750XL is bundled with Fujifilm's ColourKit scanning software, which recently has been updated to Version 4.0. The software, which can be easily integrated into any RGB or CMYK workflow, allows users to control image handling and manipulation with powerful batch scanning and editing features.
