Banta Corporation, Menasha, Wis., recently added 179,000 square feet of space to its Harrisburg, Va.-based distribution center, for a total of 433,000 square feet. The facility, which provides both print and automated distribution capabilities under one roof, processes 5,500 cartons of books and materials (100,000 units) per day, according to Banta. Also, SBC Communications Inc., a provider of data, voice, and Internet services, named Banta as an outstanding supplier and recognized the company in the customer service category.

Roll Systems, Burlington, Mass., is being sold to Böwe Systec International GmbH of Germany, pending shareholder approval expected to take place this month. Roll Systems is called North America's largest manufacturer of paper handling, converting, and monitoring systems for digital printers. In a joint venture announced last year, Böwe acquired 50% of Bell+Howell, a company that specializes in high-volume mail systems.

Joseph Raksis has been named chairman and chief executive of Precisia, LLC, a unit of Flint Ink that is developing radio-frequency identification and other printed electronics applications. Also, Dr. James Rogers, who helped launch Precisia, was appointed director of new business development for Flint, succeeding Leonard Walle, who retired in June.

Masahiko Yano has been named president of Yupo Corporation America, Chesapeake, Va.

Quad/Graphics, Sussex, Wis., plans to add 100 new employees to its full-time work force at its facility in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. to accommodate its exclusive contract with U.S. News & World Report.

Vincent Naselli has stepped down as director of TrendWatch Graphic Arts, New York City, a unit of Reed Business Information, which also publishes Graphic Arts Monthly, Graphic Arts Blue Books, and Converting, and operates AF Lewis Market Information Services.

Ken Lowden has retired as marketing and industry relations manager for DuPont Imaging Technologies, concluding a 35-year career at the firm.
