Ennis Merges

Staff -- graphic arts online, 7/1/2004

Ennis Inc. (formerly Ennis Business Forms, Inc.), Midlothian, Tex., reported last month that it is merging with Alstyle Apparel, Anaheim, Calif., a privately held manufacturer of T-shirts and fleece goods, in a tax-free exchange of stock.

The deal will create a provider of printed business products and promotional apparel with more than $525 million in annual revenues and approximately 7,000 employees. The company, to retain the Ennis name, will be based in Midlothian.

Separately, Ennis agreed to acquire Crabar/GBF, which has facilities in seven states and provides medium- and long-run print production, pressure-sensitive labels, and form-label combinations.
