VANCOUVER, B.C.–Creo Inc. and Xerox Corporation signed an agreement under which Creo will resell Xerox's mid-range and entry-level production color digital presses in the U.S. and Canada, starting February 1. Creo will sell the Xerox DocuColor 3535, 5252, and 6060 presses combined with the Creo Spire color server and other prepress software; Creo also will help identify sales opportunities for Xerox's iGen3 production color press.
Xerox recently announced that it was ending its reseller agreement with Kodak Polychrome Graphics, which covered the DocuColor 2054, 2060, 5252, and 6060 digital color presses and the DocuColor 3535 and DocuColor 12 color copier-printers.
The new agreement with Creo is to help Xerox place digital presses in commercial print establishments, while allowing Creo to provide a complete digital printing solution.
Earlier, Creo completed its acquisition for $11 million of a modern, 151,000-square-foot printing plate production facility in South Africa, which is already producing Creo's own thermal PTP plate that can be used in its computer-to-plate systems.
