Schawk Buys Prepress Firm

CHICAGO–Schawk, Inc. has acquired the Virtualcolor prepress division of Fort Dearborn Company, based in Elk Grove, Ill. Virtualcolor bills annual sales of approximately $10 million, a majority of which originates from Fort Dearborn Company.

As part of the deal, the companies signed a five-year agreement whereby Schawk will provide prepress services to Fort Dearborn's print business. The acquired business, which will be relocated to Schawk's facility in Des Plaines, Ill., offers services to the label and packaging markets.

Fort Dearborn will now focus on printing and outsource its prepress business, explains David Schawk, president and chief executive of Schawk.
