Last month, Colter & Peterson, Inc., Paramus, N.J., purchased the paper cutter and paper drill assets of Dexter-Lawson Manufacturing, Cambridge, Ontario, one of the oldest names in the paper cutter industry, which had closed its doors in June. Colter & Peterson then sold the Dexter-Lawson paper drill assets to DHP Bindery Equipment & Supply, Pensacola, Fla.
Later, Colter & Peterson reached an agreement with the Post Press Company Group of Frankfurt, Germany to distribute its Wohlenberg cutters, perfect binders, gatherers, three-knife trimmers, and Baumann paper-handling equipment in North America.
Prior to the Dexter-Lawson acquisition, Colter & Peterson was already the largest organization in the U.S. supplying parts and service for Lawson paper cutters. President Bruce Peterson says the firm, while it does not intend to continue manufacturing Lawson paper cutters, will provide service and parts. His company has made three previous acquisitions of cutter businesses, including assets of Amatco, Harris-Seybold, and Microcut.
