Noveon Inc. has purchased key water-based overprint coatings technology and manufacturing assets from Flint Ink Corporation. The purchase includes Flint Ink's water-based formulations, except for MVTR, tobacco, and security coatings, which will continue to be produced by Flint.
MeadWestvaco's Consumer & Office Products Group has acquired Amcal Inc., Concord, Calif., a designer and supplier of licensed calendars, gifts, and stationery products. Amcal is privately held and employs more than 60 people.
Xeikon America and Strobbe America have moved into their new 53,000-square-foot facility in Itasca, Ill., which houses a state-of-the-art technology center, help desk operations, and office space for the companies' sales, marketing, and distribution arms.
Newsweek will become the first client of Quad/Graphics' new Oklahoma City plant, which is scheduled to open later this year. The magazine has granted the printer a five-year, $85 million contract extension.

Banta Corporation has acquired Lancaster, Pa.-based Qualipak Inc. for an undisclosed amount. Qualipak, with annual sales of approximately $5 million, is Banta's ninth packaging and fulfillment operation.
Epsilon, a full service marketing solutions provider, has installed a Nipson 8000 digital production printing system at its Irving, Tex. location. Epsilon will use the system to print more than four million feet of variable-data direct mail documents per month.
