GretagMacbeth AG, part of Amazys Holding AG in Regensdorf, Switzerland, should not be confused with Gretag Imaging AG nor with that company's recent financial difficulties, GretagMacbeth officials maintain. GretagMacbeth, which provides systems for selecting, matching, measuring, formulating, and communicating color, demonstrated profitability and positive cash flow in its most recent reporting period. Its U.S. operation is located in New Windsor, N.Y.
Electronics For Imaging, Inc., Foster City, Calif., a provider of imaging solutions for network printing, has acquired Best GmbH, Krefeld, Germany, a software supplier specializing in color proofing. The cash transaction was valued at about $9 million.
Thomas B. Basore plans to retire on May 30 as executive director of the Web Offset Association and the Web Printing Association for Open Web & Coldset Printers, two special industry groups of the Printing Industries of America, Alexandria, Va., ending a 43-year industry career.
