NEW YORK CITY—Windward Capital, a private investment firm, has purchased Rhodes Printing Group, Charlestown, Ind., a printer of newspaper advertising inserts. Rhodes is to be combined with Houston-based AdPlex, another recently purchased Windward company, which provides a variety of advertising planning and marketing services to retailers.
The resulting company, to be renamed AdPlex-Rhodes, will list Houston as its headquarters. In addition to its Charlestown facility, Rhodes has operations in Rock Hill, S.C., and Carrollton, Tex. AdPlex also operates a plant in Greensboro, N.C. No operation will close, and the combined companies will employ about 800 people.
Carl Rhodes, former co-owner of Rhodes Printing, will remain with the new company and be based in Charlestown. As vice chairman of AdPlex-Rhodes he will focus on business development. Rhodes's sister, Linda Rhodes Kopatz, who had served as president of Rhodes, will retire.
