Georgia-Pacific Corporation (G-P) has announced that it plans to sell to global private investment firm Bain Capital its 60% majority stake in the company's Unisource Worldwide paper distribution subsidiary. The transaction, which will result in approximately $850 million in after-tax proceeds, will enable G-P to retain a 40% ownership in Unisource, and will provide $170 million in seller financing.

Creo Inc. has announced that it has agreed to acquire printing/publishing software maker ScenicSoft, Inc. for approximately $9.5 million.

The Dunwoody Technical College, Minneapolis, has installed a PolaProof 1420 digital halftone proofing system from Polaroid Graphics Imaging LLC.

Van Son Holland Ink Corporation has entered into a strategic alliance with Pitman Company to allow the distributor to market Van Son's Quickson Series of ink, while Van Son will support and complement Pitman's ink blending and mixing facilities.

Officials at the Research & Engineering (R&E) Council of the Graphic Arts Industry, Inc. announced the group's official merger with the National Association for Printing Leadership.

Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. has announced that it plans to relocate in April its Elmsford, N.Y.-based corporate headquarters to a new location 10 miles north in Valhalla, N.Y.

Pharmagraphics, LLC, Simcoe, Ontario, has installed a 12-plate G&K SVA 43 pharmaceutical folder from Vijuk Equipment, Inc.

Mail-Well, Inc. announced that it has sold its filing products division for an undisclosed amount to Filing Company LLC, a privately held company owned by Exton, Pa.-based IFC Filing LLC, which was formed by former Mail-Well chairman Gerald F. Mahoney along with management and other investors so as to effect the purchase.

 

Additional InterTech Award Winner Named

The Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF), Sewickley, Pa., announced that due to a clerical error it had inadvertently omitted an entry submitted by MAN Roland Druckmaschinen AG for consideration in this year's InterTech Technology Awards competition. After InterTech judges assessed MAN Roland's JobPilot and PressMonitor job management software modules, which had been submitted as one entry, they ruled that the offerings should indeed be granted an

InterTech Award for the 2002 competition, bringing the total number of award winners to 12.
