Death Tax Scheduled To Come Back to Life

The death tax will be reincarnated in 2011, shortly after its complete repeal. For many printing companies, this means that investments in estate planning must continue. Why will the death tax be reborn? Because despite Congress voting to pass President Bush's tax-relief legislation last year, which contained the elimination of estate taxes, a procedural rule in the Senate calls for tax legislation to "sunset" in 10 years.
"Unless Congress acts again, all of these taxes will be re-imposed on Americans in 2011—at the same level as existed in 2001. It will be as if the tax cut had never happened," says Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ). "Congress needs to act now to avoid what amounts to a massive new tax increase on the American people in just a few short years."
