Digital Color Press
Xerox has introduced its DocuColor 6060 digital color press, featuring 600x600-dpi resolution, improved paper-handling capability, and the company's ColorBridge Technology, including low oil fusing technology and a toner reproduction auto-correction system. For improved registration, a new belt-tracking sensor determines the exact location of paper on the belt and the location of the image. A newly designed J Transport Area uses electrostatic brushes to remove paper dust, thereby reducing white spot deletions.

H2O Inks Require Only Water
Midwest Ink Company has released its H2O line of sheetfed inks—which require only water but not any fountain solution, substitute, or etch—that include four-color process, match colors, and overprint varnishes. Says the company, the process inks offer sharper dot reproduction, faster setting and oxidation of ink film, improved setting and adhesion to non-porous substrates, and improved transfer and ink roller maintenance. Because the H2O inks run with tap water, calcium extraction is reduced from substrates.

The machine, which uses a 65"-long ceramic fiber heater that has been divided into a wide central zone with a narrow zone on each side, affords paper sizes up to 8 1/2" in width.
